Safeguard

screening.

An optional module for communities with younger members. It checks the Roblox account behind each new member against a flagged list before they get comfortable.

What Safeguard is

Safeguard is a screening module for servers with younger members. It is common on Roblox-adjacent communities. When someone joins, Radar looks at the Roblox account tied to their Discord, checks it against a list of accounts our team has flagged for child-safety reasons, and decides whether to let them in, hold them for review, or act. You switch it on with one toggle, and nothing about your server changes until you do.

Built for younger communities

Most useful on Roblox-adjacent servers, where the people you worry about tend to reuse the same accounts.

Checks identity, not chat

It looks at the Roblox account behind a member. It does not read your server's messages.

You choose how hard it hits

Two thresholds decide when Radar acts on its own and when it hands a case to a human.

How screening works

Everything runs at the door, on the join event, before a new member has had time to do anything. Here is the path each join takes.

1

Someone joins

A new member lands in your server and Safeguard picks up the join.

2

Find the Roblox account

Radar reads the Roblox account linked to that Discord user through Bloxlink or RoVer.

3

Check the registry

That account, and the groups it belongs to, are matched against Radar's flagged list.

4

Score the match

Every hit adds to a risk score for the member.

5

Act or hold

A clear match gets your action on the way in. A borderline one waits for a person.

If a member has no Roblox account linked through Bloxlink or RoVer, there is nothing for Safeguard to check, and they pass this module. The rest of your protection still applies.

Scores and thresholds

Each match against the registry adds to a risk score for the member. You set two numbers that decide what happens with that score.

Auto-action threshold

At or above this score, Radar takes the action you chose right away. This is for matches clear enough that you do not want a person in the loop first.

Review threshold

At or above this score but below the auto-action line, the member is held in a review queue for a person to look at instead of being actioned automatically. Set it lower than the auto-action threshold so the middle ground goes to review.

Below both

The member passes Safeguard and joins as normal. Nothing is logged against them.

What you can set

Safeguard stays a single toggle on the surface, with a few controls once it is on.

  • Action on a high-risk match. Ban, kick, apply a quarantine role, or only send an alert. Alert-only is a good way to watch it work before you let it act.
  • Alert channel. Where Safeguard posts what it found, so your staff can see the reasoning even when it acts on its own.
  • Quarantine role. If you pick quarantine as the action, the role Radar applies to hold a member without removing them.
  • Thresholds. The two scores above, tuned to how cautious you want to be.

Where the list comes from

The flagged list is reviewed and kept by the Radar team, not by individual servers. A single server cannot add accounts to it, so one moderator's grudge never becomes everyone's problem. Your server reads the same list every other Safeguard server reads, and your settings only decide how your server reacts to a match.

What it does not do

Safeguard is narrow on purpose. It is worth being clear about the edges.

  • It is not a general moderation tool. It screens who is joining, not what people say once they are in.
  • It does not read your members' messages. The check is against a Roblox account, not chat.
  • It has nothing to go on when a member has no linked Roblox account. Those members pass this module.
  • It does not decide the hard cases alone. Borderline scores go to a person through the review threshold.

Safeguard or the global blacklist?

They sound similar and do different jobs. The short version: Safeguard screens the Roblox identity of people joining a younger community and can act on a clear match. The global blacklist is a curated list of confirmed offenders across the whole Radar network, and it only alerts your admins to decide.

Safeguard

  • Checks the Roblox account behind a member
  • Scores a match against a flagged registry
  • Can act on its own when a match is clear
  • Aimed at communities with younger members

Global blacklist

  • A network list of confirmed doxxers and CSAM offenders
  • Every listing is reviewed by a person first
  • Alerts your admins and lets them decide
  • Never bans anyone on its own

Common questions

Does Safeguard read messages? +

No. It looks at the Roblox account linked to a joining member. It never reads your server's chat.

What if a member has no Roblox link? +

There is nothing to screen, so they pass Safeguard. Your other modules still cover them.

Can I add accounts to the flagged list? +

No. The list is reviewed and maintained centrally by the Radar team, so a single server cannot put someone on it.

Someone was flagged and I think it is wrong. +

They can appeal. A reviewer reads every appeal on the appeals page.
